Puncture

3 November 2011

Here’s the bits that go to make up my attempt at Russell Uttley and Ben Oliver’s Puncture.
I was really happy with it until I realised I’d forgotten his scar. That’s all I can think about when I see it now.
Not sure why I took the branches out, probably not enough time.

  1. I love seeing the progression from pencils. The ‘pentimento’, the shadow of a head…a knife. Across the board with art it’s the pencils that get me every time.

Many years ago my wife organised a surprise for me at the Kelvingrove in Glasgow. We turned up and were ushered behind the scenes. A drawer was opened and I was handed a piece of paper. It was the pencils for ‘Christ of St. John of the Cross’. What a morning!

  2. Interesting to see that you’ve inked all the bits separately and then (presumably) put them all together in Photoshop.

Working completely digitally, I do this all the time- but it never occurred to me that you might do the same thing traditionally as well!

    Looks great.
